Semi Pro Football

Saturdays are for football!!

We had a good season of Semi Pro this year with the CFCA, teams did their best to get to the championship bowl.

Once again politics should be kept off the field,, if the league and owners have issues keep it behind the office doors and do not let it leak out onto the field with the players, players want to play football.

To change the way Semi Pro Football is treated from the outsiders looking in, there have to be rules that are followed and also a board that votes on the league terms and conditions, 2 people or 3 people cannot be voting on the board for a league, Owners need to be apart of that voting process, or there should be a separate board for the bylaws of board members who are not team owners.

There is no room in a League for a dictatorship, once rules have been approved, the rules need to be followed and not changed in a blink of an eye unless a vote has been cast by either the team owners or the board.

I love watching the teams play and yes I see a lot of room for improvement, one day maybe we will see semi pro at its best. The players pay to play this game, and ask the players how they feel and the improvements they would like to see.

The River City Tigers won the CFCA Championship and they deserved it.

Things that all leagues could do to make their players and fans feel better about coming to a game.

  1. Security Guards are required at all venues that are hosting a league game. ( you can call you local police station and get off-duty officers to work your game if they are not all booked)
  2. Bag checks at all league games
  3. Player ejections immediately if they start to argue with the other team or their own sidelines, we are all grown adults here, learn how to control your emotions or risk being escorted out of the venue.
  4. Referees that know what rules the game will be played with and do not ask the coaches what rules they should use.
  5. Insurance Proof for practice fields and game day fields
  6. Transparent league finances and spending documents
  7. Team field deposits in the rare event a team’s field is canceled or something else happens they have money on the books to get a new field with the league’s help.
  8. Language- Foul language from players and coaches needs to be addressed before the season starts, fines need to be imposed and owners made to pay the fines for their team. WHY WOULD FAMILIES BRING THEIR CHILDREN OR PARENTS TO A GAME WHEN ALL YOU HEAR IS THE n WORD AND THE f WORD DURING THE WHOLE GAME AND OF COURSE THE FAMOUS B WORD.

These are just some of the improvements that Semi Pro Football needs to address if it is to become a sport that people will come out and support.

I am excited for the 2025 CFCA Football Season!
